Three brits killed

nn | 04.01.2005 03:11 | Analysis | World

bulls eye! brit scum fragged in iraq...

Three British civilians were killed in a suicide bombing in Baghdad yesterday....

"A vehicle carrying the victims and an American who also died was destroyed by a bomb blast at a checkpoint manned by US troops. The vehicle belonged to the US risk assessment company Kroll Inc. A spokesman for the company said: “It was a suicide attack on a convoy involved in routine personnel movement. Two of [those killed] were working for us and two were working for a client. Our employees were British and working as security professionals."

HA! 'risk assessment' - nice meaningless name. Kroll Associates, Inc. subsiduary Armor manufactures police and other "non-lethal" equipment used around the world along with being a leading maker of armored passenger vehicles (Hummer or Hum-V) and the prime contractor to the U.S. military for the supply of armoring and blast protection for high mobility multi-purpose wheeled vehicles. Its London-based subsidiary, Defense Systems Ltd., guards industrial and other sensitive sites, such as embassies and the headquarters of international organizations.

Other media reports refered to Kroll as a security company. Well thats closer to the truth. Kroll is a 'defence' company (read arms dealers) and a supplier of 'security' read mercenaries. Apparently UK mercenary/security firms alone are making nearly $2billion out of the occupation. Average pay is $550 a day and they get decent equipment unlike the canon fodder in the governmental forces.

Anway, the day saw another 17 Iraqi police and National Guards killed by the resistance.
Three explosions rocked Baghdad, including a car bomb which exploded close to a four-wheel-drive vehicle of the type used by foreign security contractors (read mercenarys) and leading Iraq officials.

So, pretty well targetted stuff. Funny how the mainstream don't bother to dig even a tiny bit deeper than the press releases.

And a Quisling executed.

BBC News has just announced the assassination of a Quising Governor. It seems senior Gauleiters are harder to hit.

"fragged"?

04.01.2005 14:46

This is just a language usage question. Easy for us to make mistakes becuase our versions of "English" are so close but sometimes things mean something different on opposite sides of the pond.

"fragged" (in US English usage) means an intentional "own goal" (usually because this person was intensely disliked and with implications of necessity --- an inexperienced officer whose stupid orders are about to get them killed).

Obviously it must mean something else "over here" if that headline is to make any sense.

"Fragged" ? Been reading our Tom Clancy books again have we ?

Serously young man the death of any person is never a cause for celebration. You may well feel, like me that these individuals should not be in Iraq but to take pleasure in their deaths is disgusting. Your style of writing and word use indicate an imature person and it seems likely you having made this posting to try and be shocking or grown up. Perhaps if you spent some time readng about the history of conflict and the result of it you will feel able to post a more mature contribution next time.

May I recommend; All Quiet on the Western Front and Hitler: My Part In His Downfall as something lighter.

Entymology and Immigrants

Frag surely comes from fragmentation grenade. If bombs in iraq are wrapped with nails or scrap iron, they would qualify.

London is so lucky to have so many immigrants to protect it against terrorist bombers. And there is another big benefit when the immigrants are illegal- Brits can make huge profits out of them. It is a mainstay of the economy.

Fragged - and the game of war

05.01.2005 18:01

I'm not aware of fragging ever meaning 'an own goal' like so called 'friendly fire' incidents (which usually seem to refer to US military killing a few Allies by being too fuck trigger happpy). I thought that fragging refered to the killing of officers by lower ranking solders (which became a fairly common occurance in Vietnam apparenty) - hardly an own goal - or even killing ones own in a class sense.

But anway, the word frag has moved on (like language has a tendency to do) and for the last ten years or so has become inncreasingly used in computer/video games to refer simply to having killed your competition. I thought it an approbriate word to use. It is a twist, the avoidence of the word killed or murdered, and it carries the overtones of it all being a game - which in my view is actually how the whole invasion and 'war' in treated by much of the media and certainly the non-combatives that send the soldiers into the field (another game/sport reference).

These dead guys are no heros - they weren't there to help the iraq people - they were there to make loads of money out of this 'opportunity' provided by the US invasion - and to protect their corporate clients. Scum. Glad they are dead. Hope more get the same as it make me believe there may be some justice in the world.

(could somebody remove that racist 'nigger/london/bomb' post above please)
