------

Hi, i just want to ask the indymedia comunity to tell me about the ngo National Trust.
I've been offered a place to participate in one of their volunteer programs, but before giving my answer i want to know wich kind of organism are they, what kind of people uses to participate, their relantionship with the most left groups.
I am from spain and i want to know because i don´t want to arrive in a conservative ngo that i am not going to put up with and are opposite to my political views and beliefs.

So any reference, bad or good, gossip, etc

Can you trust the National Trust?

The National Trust are not radical but some of their work is good. You could make sure you are involved in environmental stuff rather than helping to preserve the homes of the rich.

NT workers rights

I know someone prominant in the National Trust and unfortunately they have recently embarked on a centralisation system alienating national trust workers from democracy in the organisation. The centralised management team have imposed measures upon property managers to save costs such as reducing workers pay and staff numbers. This is despite the property in question increasing visitor numbers and therefore increasing profits. If you are joining the national trust be very wary they are target driven and therefore increasing property investments at the expense of workers rights. Join a union and be careful!
