Britain's national telecommunications giant British Telecom intends to purchase Israeli communications technology, according to Sergei Brosh, chairman of the Israeli Export and International Cooperation Institute.
The purchase is expected to occur in the next three to five years and be worth a total of $200 million.
Brosh made the remarks after a meeting between BT and the involved Israeli companies at the BT research and development headquarters in Ipswich, England.
The meeting took place in the context of long-term cooperation between IEICI and the Israeli commercial attache in London, Meron Hacohen, and the BT headquarters in London.
Roughly 200 BT employees took part in the meeting, including some of the company's senior managers.
Brosh stressed that the meeting was unprecedented in terms of the willingness of the British company to organize meetings with Israeli companies.
"In the past we heard about delegations that met with large companies," he said, "but we had not yet heard about such an all-encompassing internal effort to expose new companies to all the relevant echelons of BT, with the objective of bringing about cooperation."
