Representatives from the London 2012 Olympic Bid will be coming to a meeting in ULU this evening in an attempt to persuade students to support the government's bid to host the games in London.

ULU antiauthoritarians are calling on people to come to this meeting and challenge the propaganda being disseminated by the government, particularly the Mayor of London's office. We need to let people know what the reality of hosting the Olympics would be.

Previous experience in Athens this year shows us what we would have to look forward to:

- exploitation of labour: in Athens 18 workers were killed thanks to the lack of safety
measures on work sites during the mad rush to ensure everything was ready in time.

- environmental destruction: already Hackney Marshes has been earmarked for "development"

- Big brother public surveillance and a ban on political protest across much of the
capitol throughout the duration of the games.

We need to demonstrate that the assumed consensus of support for the London Bid is not real.
