Italian Police Face Trial for Brutal Raid at G8 Protests in Genoa

Italian police accused of violence during a raid against protesters at the G8 summit in Genoa in 2001 must stand trial, a judge has ruled.
Twent-eight Italian police officers have been charged with lying, slander and the intent to seriously injure Anticapitalists at a school in Genoa which which they were using as a base during the 2001 G8 in Genoa, Italy.
The trial should start on 6 April 2005.
One protester, Carlo Guiliani, was shot dead by a policement at one of the demonstrations during the protests.
