Band Aid 20- The real story

20 years after the first band aid song was made- pop stars and politicians
trip over themselves to endorse the rehashing of the song do you know its
Christmas. Yet in the last 20 years poverty in some areas of Africa has
increased whilst the gap between rich and poor has grown-largely as a
result of economic policies of the powerful industrialised countries. This
year the G8 summit aims to tackle poverty by setting out a blueprint for
the continent which is free-market, free-trade, privatised, deregulated
and genetically modified.
Dissenting voices from many different places around the world have sent in
their lyrics and their songs in the spirit and culture of resistance. The
