Airbus fails to Expropriate Farmland in Germany- Jobs go to French Unions

Airbus SAS, the world's largest maker
of commercial aircraft is a subsidiary of European Weapons maker EADS.
Airbus is being blocked in its bid to build a
special delivery airstrip for its new superjumbo A380 plane as a
Hamburg church and other local landowners refuse to sell their
properties.
Airbus needs to extend an existing runway near the north
German city by 589 meters (1,932 feet) so that the fully-equipped
freight-version of its A380 can take off and land there, the
newspaper said. Secret negotiations between the company, the city
and leaders of the St. Pankratius parish have broken off without an
agreement, the paper said, citing unidentified church leaders.
Airbus, which had signed a contract with Hamburg to build the
project there, can exit the agreement if it can't build a facility
fit for the plane, the paper said. It might instead build the
center near its base in Toulouse, France, the paper said.
