Activist training collective needs a venue for pre-G8 direct action training in Sheffield

In the run up to the 2005 G8 Summit in Scotland, Seeds for Change is running a series of weekend workshops for activists that want to share their direct action skills with their affinity groups, their communities and their networks. We're planning the first of these in Sheffield 21-23rd January 2005 if you can helkp us find a venue!. We need somewhere cheap or free, big enough for an active workshop for 15 people, preferably with crash space and a kitchen. We'd need it Friday evening to Sunday evening...any suggestions? For more on what we're planning, read on.....

By the end of a Direct Action Training Workshop you'll be equipped to run direct action training sessions - stimulating action in your community and helping other activists prepare for effective action at the summit. The workshops will have an emphasis on learning by doing, so come ready to participate and share your skills. Sessions will include:

*What makes an effective and participative workshop
*How to deliver useful and dynamic training.
*Practicing exercises to help groups:

Build affinity groups & other support systems
Use their bodies (& some simple equipment) to prolong protest
Understand their legal rights
Make quick, group decisions on actions
Deal with confrontational action situations & stay safe
Explore concepts of violence & nonviolence

Workshops will begin at 7pm Friday and finish by 5pm on Sunday. Priority will be given to people that can make the whole weekend and have a firm intention of using the skills they learn in their groups, networks and communities. Booking is essential, as places are limited. The workshop includes basic accommodation and vegan food. The weekend is free but donations towards costs are appreciated.
