Open Meeting With Speakers: The Implications of Bush's Re-Election

Thursday 11 November 2004, 7.30pm

The Court Room, Oxford Town Hall, St Aldates

Speakers:
Debbs Buchholtz: US Citizen, Oxford Stop the War Coalition
Nuala Young: Oxford Campaign for Nuclear disarmament
Mahmoud Hawari: Chair, Oxfor Palestine Solidarity Campaign

The hopes of millions around the world were dashed last week, when George W bush was re-elected president of the USA. This will potentially have very serious consequences as we are already seeing in Fallujah. We need to reflect on what Bush's election victory means, both for the world and for the anti-war movement, and begin to map out a strategy for going forward.

The Oxford Stop the War Coalition is holding this open meeting tomorrow evening to begin this process. It will be led by a panel of local speakers. They will each give a brief talk, from their own particular perspective. This will be followed by questions, comments and discussion. We will also have a speaker from the Ivory Coast who will give a report on the situation there. All are welcome.
