Community Radio Public Meeting

Sheffield Indymedia | 09.11.2004 14:22 | Culture | Indymedia | Sheffield

Sheffield Live!, who hosted Sheffield Indymedia Radio on FM over the summer, is trying to get its community radio licence. You can help by coming to the public meeting tomorrow (Wednesday) evening at Yorkshire Artspace.

Sheffield Live! is going for a full time community radio licence!

They are holding a public meeting on 10 November at:

Yorkshire Artspace,
21 Brown St (opposite The Rutland Arms)

at 6.30pm.

New legislation was passed in July this year which enables community radio groups like Sheffield Live! to apply for a full time broadcast licence. This meeting is an opportunity to find out what Sheffield Live is up to and have your input in to the application process.

Sheffield Live! has enabled many ordinary Sheffield people to create their own radio show including the Indymedia radio show which had 4 shows on FM in July. The community radio station is ususally restricted to just internet broadcasting but for one month of the year has been allowed to broadcast via a weak signal on FM.

Please come down and and show you support them.
