Photos of the inside of a Police surveillence camera. do you have ideas or experience of putting these out of action?
Got these shots recently of theinner workings of Police cctv surveilence cameras.
The engineer tried to stop me taking the shots as he said that noone was allowed to take pictures of the inner workings of these intrusive little machines.
Well i got some good shots.
The long black tube on the front of the unit is the lens it is long and is made by Fuji actually it is an extreemly exspensive and sophistocated piece of equipment as confirmed by the engineer.
I would suggest that it is this unit that if you wanted to damage the camera is what you would need to take out.
However a box with glass front is what you will see when you look up at a cctv camera.
I reckon a well aimed projectile possibly from a high powered catapult or air rifle would take one out, however you would need to stand directly in front and in view of the camera to achieve this.
You may need one shot to take out the front glass and another for the large front tube of the camera unit itself.
Does anyone have experience of taking these out and can anyone offer suggestions?

Wrap some absorbent rag loosely round the supporting post. Wrap some stiff wire around the rag to loosely hold it in place. Pour paraffin on rag, ignite and quickly push the rag all the way up the pole so it's just below the camera with a length of scaff or many many broomsticks lashed together. Take a photo of the toasting camera. Run like fuck. Publish photo here.
This would only work for an obstruction free pole mounted camera though you could try propping a scaff pole with the rag on it against cameras mounted in other ways.
Of course this would be a really really stupid criminal thing to do. You do realise that CCTVs are there to protect us from evil don't you? You'd likely be done for arson which gets you 14 years max. If bits of burning rag blew away in the wind and set fire to nearby properties, they'd throw your key away. So don't do it cos I've told you not to.

not the best thing to be discussing really

in my day a bag placed over the camera after quickly clambering up it would suffice.
now there's so many cameras around it's not worth really.
saw a video recently of people pulling camera poles down with rope but obviously that can be dangerous to anyone below them.
people do trash gatso traffic cameras quite a lot - pics at
