Dan Roberts | 05.11.2004 00:32 | Analysis | World

A 30 minute review of news and opinion recorded from a shortwave radio. 2 files- broadcast quality (13.3MB) and quick download (3.3MB). With times and freqs for listening at home. Free to rebroadcast. China, Cuba, Netherlands, Germany, and Russia.

Dear Radio Friend,
The latest Shortwave Report (November 5) is up at the website  http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality (13.3MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.3MB) (28:55)

This week's show features stories from Radio Netherlands, Radio Deutsche Welle, the Voice of Russia, and Radio Havana Cuba.
From NETHERLANDS- On Monday the Chinese administration severely criticized the Bush administration for destroying the global anti-terrorist coalition by arrogant actions in Iraq. A press report concerning Dutch preferences before the US election. A press review on the role of religion in the US election. Then an analysis of the results of the US Presidential election.
From GERMANY- Correspondents from Britain, France, Spain, and Poland describe the reactions to Bush's victory in the US.
From RUSSIA- A commentary on recent American actions to put more pressure on journalists, and a follow up to a story I aired last week about the annual analysis from Reporters Without Borders.
From CUBA- A new study on global warming commissioned by the EU has shown that the polar ice cap is definitely melting at a dangerous rate- publication of this report was intentionally delayed until after the US election. Then a few critiques of the US election on Wednesday.

All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired on Friday evening at 7pm (PDST) on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via  http://www.kzyx.org
There are several other streams that work better-   http://www.freakradio.org  Freak Radio Santa Cruz now streams this program on Friday at 9:00am (PDST)
Also check out LavaLamp Radio (Japan)-  http://www.radiolavalamp.org
streaming the SWR, check out the schedule.
And the Partytown streams are great and informative-  http://www.partytown.com/radio
I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt! (maybe a little)
