Anti war protester scales downing street gates

A small group of us met up yesterday and carried some pretty damn successful direct action around central london raising awareness about the imminent attacks on iraqi cities, the actions next Sunday and getting petitions signed.
(This was on sunday)
Three things stood out. We managed to block the traffic at oxford circus, got
crowds of 400+ gathered around and got lots of support from interested people
who were keen to know what was going on. This was really effective and took
minimum effort and preparation.
Secondly, we staged a protest outside Downing St where one of us managed to scale the
gates and stood, perched above the gates for about 45mins whilst we bought
attention to what was going on passers by.
Thirdly, it was clear that a lot of people are interested to hear what is going
on and are glad anti war protesters are still active. We got lots of people
who were very positive to our protests and even wanted to join in blocking the
road in oxford circus. We also got support from Iraqis and some members of the
armed forces.
This just shows how, even a small group of people can have a substantial
effect. We probably reminded at least 1000 people in London about the forthcoming
attacks.
