The Home Office refuses to comment on the seizure of the Indymedia servers in this letter dated 27th October 2004 from Caroline Flint MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, the minister responsible for international crime, in a response to a question from MP Glenda Jackson, CBE.

"Dear Glenda,

Thank you for your letter dated 14 October 2004 addressed to the Home Secretary enclosing an email from your constituent X regarding Indymedia. I have been asked to reply as the Minister responsible for international crime.

Unfortunately, I am not in a position to comment on this particular matter, but I can provide general information. It is standard Home Office policy neither to confirm nor deny the existance or receipt of a mutual legal assistance request. However, where the UK has received a valid request, we will seek to execute it within the framework of our domestic law. This will include being provided with sufficient evidence to justify the actions sought.

I hope you find this useful.

Caroline Flint"

Glenda Jackson has signed the Early Day Motion 1750 requesting an explanation from the Home Secretary.
