Forest Bank Demo and Wakenhut... ideas?

no borders | 11.10.2004 23:03

Forest bank demo is going ahead as planned.

For details and lifts to prison (an offer you can't refuse), see link below
 http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/manchester/2004/09/298166.html

But if anyones got ideas on what to do on the demo creatively, cause the original idea of showing films or camping on that day isn't happening, let us know.

some ideas for no borders are films in november, a mad salsa dance, but also maybe something at dallas court...

Dallas Court is located at

South Langworthy Road
Salford
Manchester

The "North West Enforcement Unit" previously located at Manc airport relocated to Dallas Court in 2001. Its an enforcement centre in the hands of the unlovely Wackenhut UK Limited and subjects people to body searches and metal detector scans.

between us all, we should be able to think of something.

and a bit more about Wackenhut and Dallas Court...
Wackenhut Corrections are considered one of the "dirtiest"companies in the world.
Reports show they..

· allowed physical and sexual abuse in their prisons in New Mexico
· organised security for chemical weapons shipments to Iraq
· stole documents related to the Exon Valdiz oil disaster.

This is not the sort of regeneration promised to the Langworthy area of Salford.

Remember the closure of Agecroft colliery? In its place they built a prison. Britain now detains more people in prison than any other European country.

So there you go. Do you feel creative yet?
