Keep Space for Peace Week

Saturday 25th saw an important demonstration at Fylingdales on the North Yorks Moors. The protest helped mark the start of Keep Space for Peace Week, raising a voice againgst Star Wars.

The demonstration moved to the entrance of the base and then took advantage of a newly discovered right of way to enter the property and walk right up to the Radar. Speakers at the entrance including Thom Yorke and CND Chair Kate Hudson.

Next Saturday there will be another demonstration, to mark the end of the week, this time at Menwith Hill. '2004 Space Oddity' Demo call

Fylingdales marked by a giant concrete 'pyramid' in the Moors is one of 5 Ballistic Missile Early Warning Radars around the world, which together scan a large area of Western Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, North America, Northern South America and areas of the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans for ballistic missile launches.

The demonstration took place at Eller Beck, just down from the main entrance to the Star Wars base from noon until 4pm. Further etails can be found at the Yorkshire CND Website.
