Another action against marine quarrying

Some time during the weekend of 3-5th of September, RMC (Ready Mix Concrete) were again targetted in opposition to the quarrying of the sea bed of the English Channel.
Plans are afoot to dredge aggregates from the sea bed, partly as a result of opposition to land quarries in recent years. The planned quarry will destroy vital sections of the marine eco-system and has angered many fishermen in both England and France as it will destroy a fish spawning ground. To make matters woirse, the aggregates extraxcted from the sea bed will be used to build thousands of new home on greenfiled sites across the South West.
RMC are the target of a fortnight of action (see anti-marine quarrying article earlier on the newswire). On this ocassion the lock of the entrance gate to the Huddersfield plant was jammed shut. This will have caused them some downtime when they turned up for work on Monday morning, and sent a message that if they proceed with the quarrying they can expect to be the target of further action.
