Call me Delores. That means sad in Spanish, right?
Words, you want words? I’ll tell you why I joined the Reserves Because it was the only way I could afford to go to college. I was told I would maybe fight hurricanes, or something like that.
I was always the good kid. I never got into trouble. I didn’t hang out with those who did. I did my schoolwork instead. I wanted to be a nurse and help people.
Now I’m in the hospital a lot. But I ain’t no nurse.
Who wanted this war, anyway? Did they send their kids to fight?

Do I have regrets?
Sure,
I wish I had hung out with the bad kids.
