Just why were the victims of the strike against the Iron Heel on 11 September 2001 thought so worthy of commemoration last Saturday? Why were they thought more worthy than those murdered by the agents of the Amerikan state in Chile on 11 September 1973 ? Or, for that matter the 1/4 of the population of Chechnya killed by the Russian military? Was it because:
1) The major imperative in any situation for Oxford 'alternatives' is: Look for the Victim.
2) It's a way of saying: Hey, we really are part of the majority, and of course we all know that '9/11' was one of the worst atrocities in the history of the world.
3) When push comes to shove those people are on the side of Imperialism, they just want it to be a little gentler.
