Over 1000 US Soldiers killed in Iraq Conflict.

United States Central Command released some news today:

“ September 7, 2004 - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BAGHDAD, Iraq – One Task Force Baghdad Soldier was killed today during an
attack that took place at about 12 p.m. in eastern Baghdad.

of kin. The incident is under investigation. “

Central Command did not announce that this was the 1000th US soldier killed since the invasion of Iraq last year.

Unfortunately, this is just a drop in the ocean for the largest military machine in history, however it is significant politically and should become more so as the death toll shows no signs of abating.

The total U.S. military death toll for the entire Iraq conflict in now 1,001.
British deaths 65; Other 66; so total coalition deaths: 1132.

There has been a significant increase in the death rate during the last three months - from under 2 each day to over 3 - which, for what its worth, mainly consists of marines.
