MICRA today marched on the town hall to emphasise their demands to be taken seriously by the local council. Objections to the proposal to increase traffic around the area and damage the health of local residents must be addressed.

Residents have been backed by Liverpool Green Party and their local Labour councillors in an effort to stop this development. Even some Liberal Democrat members of the transport committee are sympathetic to this, despite their ruling party line.

The council meeting raised a lot of problem issues that had not been previously discussed. There are ongoing issues between residents and the student community at Marybone, but in this situation they are allied. Student bodies have not been consulted by the council, a massive failure in the process.

More news on the results of the meeting to follow. The official decision by the transport committee is to be made in writing within 10 days of the meeting.
