BLOCKADE FASLANE - Carry on up the Clyde: August 23rd

On 23rd August, hundreds of peace activists will blockade, and shut down the base at Faslane, home to the UK's illegal nuclear weapons programme. This action, organised by Trident Ploughshares and Scottish CND, is just the latest in a series of mass direct actions bringing attention to UK government preparations for genocide. Be there, to uphold the law, and celebrate life over death, peace over war!
This months direct action is especially important since the UK is now actively undertaking research into new "usuable" nuclear weapons, despite the fact that this is totally undermines the Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the ICJ Opinion of 1996. Next year, the UK plans to renew its obligations to the NPT, and so we urgently need to highlight the government's hypocricy and put Trident back at the centre of the UK peace movement.
This action will take place during the Trident Ploughshares International Disarmament Camp at the Clyde nuclear bases, 30 miles west of Glasgow in Scotland.
