Minister of Education, Cultura and Sports, Aristóbulo Istúriz and Alfonso Gutiérrez Moon, representative of Microsoft Venezuela, signed the Agreement "Alliance for the Education" to update the use of new information and communication technologies (TIC) in the Venezuelan population via education.
The agreement will contribute to incorporate, in an efficient way, the use of the new information technologies in the pedagogical processes and in education.
The Agreement "Alliance for the Education" will last five years and is a direct answer to the Letter of intent exchanged between the central government and Microsoft Corporation in August 2000 for the execution of programs and projects that initiate the modernization of the technological platform and information in our country.
"We are dealing with this Alliance for the Education to arrive in the communities and in the schools with few resources, to help in closing the technological gap in society", said Alfonso Moon, director for the Andean Region of Microsoft.
Microsoft Venezuela will support those actions that facilitate the donation of computers for establishments deprived public and, with which increases the possibility of the communities to access the use of the new technologies.
"For this program we have destined 250 million dollars, in cash, for donations. ", stated Moon.
Also, by means of this agreement, the MECD and Microsoft Venezuela try to canalize human and financial resources to cover costs related to the development with educational programs of training for students; support to the educational ones so that they develop to contents and academic products by themselves certification of educational students and in Microsoft technology; establishment of formation centers that facilitate the exchange of information and experience between communities and institutions.
"We think that the educative processes can sensibly be improved through the use of information technology. This will not only benefit education, but the whole community of people who are continuing learning. The educational process is not due to stop, does not have to be limited to the classroom, but it must continue for the whole life ",
indicated the representative of Microsoft.
Also the education minister made a call to the private companies.
"If we want a better country we must take the Telematics to the school, but the State cannot alone, I make a call to all those who can, to participate in this alliance.
