Kings Dock arena gets go-ahead

- - | 30.07.2004 15:58 | Liverpool

A new 10,000 seat arena and conference centre with obligatory luxury flats development has been given a £50m thumbs up by the Merseyside Objective One programme.

John Flamson, director of the Objective One programme said, “The Kings Arena will give Liverpool a major new music venue, something that surely everyone who acknowledges the city's rich musical heritage will welcome."

So now any group that can fill a 10,000 capacity stadium will be welcome in Liverpool. Meanwhile, upcoming local talent wonder where their next gig’s coming from as the Picket on Hardman Street, long time supporter of local musical talent, gets the two finger salute from, amongst others, Liverpool city council. The Peoples Centre will soon turn into yet more luxury flats and staff have already been made redundant. With young bands getting such poor support, we can all look forward to a new generation of musical brilliance that comes from anywhere but Liverpool.
