Stop the Killing in Sudan. Protest Wednesday 28th July, London
Megan | 24.07.2004 21:37 | Anti-militarism | Anti-racism | London | World
Join the protest at the Sudan Embassy 1.00pm, Wednesday 28th July 2004.
Sudan Embassy - 3 Cleveland Row (off Pall mall and next to St James' Palace).
Where do you stand? While the international community drags its feet, thousands are killed, raped, kidnapped, bombed, starved and burned. Over 1 million have fled their homes yet governments continue to issue regrets, to postpone, to prepare future apologies to the hundreds of thousands who may die.
For months the Sudanese government and the Janjaweed have been burning homes, killing thousands of innocent farmers, raping women and burning children to death in west Sudan. A million people have fled their homes to live in hunger and to endure further attacks.
The last demonstration was organised by both Arab and black African Sudanese groups and moved from the Sudan embassy to the Foreign Office, the Nigerian High Commission, South Africa House and the BBC World Service, passing demonstrations against state violence by Ethiopian groups in Downing Street and the vigil outside Zimbabwe House.
The wars in Africa are all about the plundering of resources by the wealthiest economies and, increasingly, about oil. See the Human Rights Watch Report, Sudan, Oil and Human Rights:

NO MORE BLOOD FOR OIL ANYWHERE BY ANYONE. It does not matter who does the killing or who is being killed, THE KILLING HAS TO STOP.
