M & S picket attacked today

Find somewhere else to buy your knickers.

Around twenty Zionists turned up this Saturday and effectively blockaded the doors of M & S for us!!!! The main doors were closed by security and I had the pleasure of telling two women trying to shop there that M & S had closed because of the demonstration (hee hee).

They were abusive, screaming racist and pushing people around. Trying to grab cameras etc. and one picketer got hit in the face with an umbrella. The M & S picket was peaceful, overall, and we saw more different groups and individuals there than we have seen before. Many people came to support the right to demonstrate and also, to protest against the occupation of Palestine. We outnumbered them.

Finally, one particularly nasty idiot got arrested, presumeably for breach of the peace. So, overall, a successful day out.

I remembered my manners and thanked the Zionists for coming and getting M & S to close the doors. See you next Saturday chaps.

The actions of the store in trying to get ASBOs on the protest made front page of the MEN.

Btw, they were calling THEMSELVES Zionists so I have used their words.

They said they intend to "clean the picket off the street by August", so please turn up and keep this protest going. Because, if M & S get away with using ASBOs, and the use of violent groups can drive people protesting off the street, it could be any protest next. (interesting to ask what role M & S played in getting the aggro started?)

We will be back next week to support the picket. I am allergic to large corporations organising attacks on protesters personally. If you are too, hope to see you next Saturday, 12 noon outside M & S.
