Regular squatter cafe evening at the rampART cafe, every thursday from 6pm
plus, squatters info day from 2pm on the 22nd July
This thursday, July 15th, at 6pm, the rampART cafe will be opening for the first time. The thursday evening is open to anyone but is specifically aimed at people interested in squatting so that they can meet up with other people, share information about empties and perhaps go out and get themselves a home. We intend to do this squatters evening every week thus providing a meeting point for those needing to find other people or information. The cafe itself we hope to open every evening, with food by donation and chilled music and films.
The first squatters eveing will be something of a trial run and provide an opportunity to help prepare and get involved in a much more ambitious squatting event being planned for the following thursday...
On the 22nd we will host an event consisting of pratical workshops, discussion, advice surgery, films, food and a bit of an evening social for people squatting or wishing to squat. If you would like to learn about the pratical and legal aspects of squatting, come along. If you have skills or information to share then please get involved and help organise the event.
The idea is to provide a forum for information exchange and to facilitate people to solve their own housing difficulties or set up their own project spaces.
We also hope to be able to get translations of the squatters handbook produced during the day as there is clearly a need. If you can do translations into spanish, hindi, bengali, arabic, russian, georgian, romanian, polish, or whatever, please let us know and come along.
