The Farenheit 911 Of Comics?

Rich Johnston | 05.07.2004 14:37 | Anti-militarism | Culture

Can comic books do politics? That's what London comedy writer
Rich Johnston is planning to find out in San Diego this month.

Rich Johnston's comic book "Holed Up", published by American publisher Avatar
Press has causing a stink among some comic books fans in the USA who
have sent death threats, as his 'American family sitcom with
semi-automatic weaponry' has been hitting US comic book shelves.
Telling the story of an Idaho family, they fight a federalist
government, their daughter's black boyfriend and their own inferiority
complex.

Death threats or not, Rich Johnston is visiting San Diego's comic
convention later this month to meet his fans.

"Comic book fans tend to be on the portly side. I'm hoping they'll
shield me from any snipers" said Johnston. However, with the third
issue of "Holed Up" out this month showing the family's trail of
terror across the Middle East, it might not be just Americans he'll
have to fear.

The first two issues of Rich Johnston's Holed Up can be found in comic shops worldwide. The third issue is due to be published soon.
