I should read the Sun ?

Why because I refuse to follow the tired old line about the "Glorious Iraqi Resistence", because despite what the US's real motivation was for war (and let's face it none of us really know) I am happy they won because it means Saddam has gone.

Take the time to speak to Iraqi people in the UK, I have and while they are keen to see the Iraqi people take full control not one of them was against the war and most importantly they are keen to see the Coallition troops stay until stability is achieved. As a point of reference do some reading about the time it took to achieve full stability in post war Germany.

Get in the real-world Pete, we went for the oil. Invading another country to force a change in the leadership is a war crime.

Bremer hands over Iraqis sovereignty and leaves Iraq

US Ambassador Paul Bremer flew out of Baghad international airport on
a US military C130 plane at about 12:30 pm on Monday.
He had earlier handed a formal document declaring Iraq a sovereign
nation to chief justice Medhat Mahmud, Prime Minister Iyad Allawi and
President Sheikh Ghazi al-Yawar.
Bremer, smiling broadly and flanked by 4-5 armed guards, was escorted
to the plane by deputy prime minister Barham Salih.
He declined to comment to the small group of journalists present and
shook hands with Salih before climbing the steps to the plane, which was
a normal C130 without any noticeable finery.
Salih said: "The onus of responsiblity from now on will be on the
people of Iraq and the Iraqi government to deliver and the challenges
that are facing us."
Asked why the handover ceremony was brought forward from Wednesday:
"It was late. We should have had sovereignty from the day after
liberation. But better late than never."
He said he hoped Iraqi and international forces would come together
to beat the insurgency.
He said the events of the past year had given "the people of Iraq an
opportunity of freedom ending tyranny ending genocide mass killings ...
giving us the chance to build a new nation at peace with itself and its
neighbours."
"He is headed back towards the United States," said Stratcom director
Robert Tappan of Bremer.

Earlier, Bremer handed full sovereignty to Iraq in a low-key ceremony
held amid tight security at the prime minister's offices in the Green
Zone. He sat at right angles to Allawi with a bowl of flowers also
containing the old Iraqi flag.
He handed the document declaring Iraqi became a sovereign nation on
June 28 to chief justice Medhat Mahmud, Prime Minister Iyad Allawi and
President Sheikh Ghazi al-Yawar. The officials then shook ha! nds as the
small group of people present -- about 30 including a dozen diplomats,
officials and politicians and journalists -- applauded.
Yawar was the first to speak.
"This is the day that we regained sovereignty this is a start of a
happy day for us in Iraq," he said.
Then Allawi: "This is a historic day. This transfer of sovereignty to
an Iraqi government and the Iraqi people, we have been working hard with
Ambassador Bremer to achieve this as soon as possible."
He also said he would announce new legal measures later in the day.
"The security situation of our country now lies in our hands."
"They will be delivered today and tomorrow ... I will tell you
later."
Finally Bremer: "It's a great pleasure to be here this day to
formally hand over sovereignty on behalf of the coalition."
"You have said and we have agreed that you are ready for sovereignty
we f! eel as temporary custodians ... to return sovereignty today."
"As I leave Iraq I am confident in the future," he added to applause
from the participants, including his US deputy Richard Jones and British
special representative David Richmond.
A coalition official said there would be swearing-in ceremony to
invest each of the ministers with full powers at 3:00 pm near the prime
minister's offices on Monday.
The chief justice will officiate, he said.
Another coalition official said Allawi had insisted on bringing the
handover forward because Iraq was ready for sovereignty ahead of
schedule.
He said the last ministries (defence, interior, finance, justice)
were transferred on Thursday.
But a senior coalition military official said security was a
"consideration"
