at 6 this morning police turned out in force evict the squatted flats on kentish town high street

at six this morning cops turned out in force to evict the resistance eviction squat in kentish town. there was a variety of riots cops with short and long shields and there was some weirdo absailing down the building type cops. there was also the FIT (forward intelligence team) in full effect who were busy taking peoples photos and asking people if they were involved in any protest groups.

This action by the pigs in defence of some bullshit housing association who want to build yuppie flats has left up to 30 people homeless. The operation also cost at least £20,000.

The squat was opened for over 7 months and has existed with the barricades up for just over 3 months.

The squatters have been forcibly moved but will just resquat another building, the struggle against the rent system continues.

we are still hating cops, baliiffs and other agents of the babylon

yeah well apparently the cops had 190 officers on duty for this op that is 100 present on the scene and 90 in backup.

they had funny climber cops viscios riot cops photographers and other assorted vermin

they had the motherfucking ghetto bird out, that is the police helicopter in the fucking air

this operation cost several ten s of thousands of pounds after you add in baliffs legal process and other bullshit

the cops can mobilise all these resouurces to evict a harmless squat and make 30 people homeless and you know what no one has even noticed

all this coming just weeks after the cops from the same station kill an innocent dread, kebba dobbo jobe

The squat

The squat was situated about a 100 yards from the Kentish Town police station where a recent vigil and demo had been held after the death of a Ghanian man Kebba Jobe at the hands of local police ( probably the same involved in the eviction ) at Camden Lock where he was relaxing in the summer sun. Camden is the scene of severe police crackdowns including the closure of the local community advice centre Greenland Road ( also raided by riot cops when occupied after a smear campaign on the organisers by Camden Council - who hope to turn it into a base for the Camden Stasi aka. Community Cops ). The council also have defined no go zones for tewenagers as part of their enthuisastic use of ASBO laws. The council last year had to bail out the ex- West Hampstead Housing Association shareholders ( themselves enthusiastic evctors of squatters ) to the tune of over a miilion quid. Along with their expensive campaign for backdoor privatisation in the form of ALMOs ( arms length management ) also paid for by Camden residents ( and voted down by 87% of residents despite the council propaganda ) we see their support for big business, stuffing their pockets, against the needs of the local poor.

Same scene in Haringey and islington etc. More sup[port is needed to battle these developments , perhaps council watch forums, bailiff watch and a revival of 'homes for people not profit' actions.
