Dear Radio Friend,
The latest Shortwave Report (June 18) is up at the website  http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality (13.3MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.4MB) (29:00)

This week's show features stories from Radio Netherlands, the Voice of Russia, Spanish National Radio, China Radio International, and Radio Havana Cuba.
From Netherlands- As the date for the apparent hand over of power in Iraq approaches, the question of what to do with Saddam Hussein needs to be dealt with. An interview with a member of the international committee of the Red Cross.
From Russia- Russia will continue to help Iran build a nuclear power plant despite criticism from the UN Atomic Energy Agency. Then a commentary on the US prison abuse scandals in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Guantanemo Bay- Rumsfeld's claim that torture does not violate international laws has been condemned by human rights groups.
From Spain- The US General in charge of Abu Griab prison says she was told to treat the prisoners like dogs. Britain is investigating 75 reports from the Red Cross of prisoner torture and sexual abuse in Iraq. The US commission on 9/11 reported no connection between the attacks and Iraq. A Turkish academic was elected to lead the OIC, the largest Muslim body. Kofi Annan told the UN Trade and Development conference in Brazil that the world was falling behind in efforts to reduce global poverty, and that more of the poor will turn to terrorism as the best option. In Bolivia, another mayor was executed by anti government protesters.
From China- Bush has designated Pakistan to be eligible to buy more US arms, as a reward for backing the so-called war on terrorism. A stellar list of US dignitaries have signed a letter stating that Bush has undermined the world view of the US, and made the world a more dangerous place. Former UN Sec General Boutros Boutros-Ghali says the UN Security Council needs more new permanent members, and application of the 5 principles of peaceful coexistence.
From Cuba- A survey of Iraqi attitudes toward American troops was commissioned by the US but the results were not released to the American public. Israel is preparing to build more of its controversial wall and thousands of new homes in Palestinian territory. Then a Viewpoint on the Bush plan called the Commission for a Free Cuba.

All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired on Friday evening at 7pm on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via  http://www.kzyx.org
There are several other streams that work better-   http://www.freakradio.org  Freak Radio Santa Cruz (96.3fm) now streams this program on Friday at 9:30am (PST)
Also check out LavaLamp Radio (Japan)-  http://www.radiolavalamp.org
streaming the SWR, check out the schedule.
And the Partytown streams are great and informative-  http://www.partytown.com/radio
I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt!
