Alternative currency schemes have sometimes fostered an environment for mutual aid even thought they are based on quid pro quo exchange - the Ithaca hours scheme in New York State springs to mind. Bernard Lietaer's 'The Future of Money', for all its utopian capitalist vibe has some good examples. So perhaps alternative currencies can be viewed as a way to develop mutual aid and voluntary coopoeration within capitalist society (evolution) with a view to revolution, rather than as antagonistic to anarchism, which has to entrench itself in popular conciousness somehow if there is to be revolution?

Anyway, have a good one, I wish I could be there.
