police move finsbury anti racist festival

Police in london are making it impossible to have carnival in finsbury park and forced it indoors.

While a licence was about to be granted, police insisted that organisers erect they a double ringed steel fence-cost £70,000.

Weyman Bennett, joint sec for UNITE Agaist Facism, told NME.com "We believe if you can have opera in Trafalgar Sq unsheilded, then you can have a rock music in a park and people can come and listen to it"

the carnival is going to be held at the 6,000 capicity hammersmith apoolo 6.30pm-.

The line up will be The Libertines, The Stands, Bigga Fish. plus many more There will be 2 other surprise guest which cannot name for contractual reasons.

The festival at finsbury park would have be free entry but thanks to the police the cost of the in door Apolla means that tickets will cost £5-

Well, this is further proof (if needed) that the police clearly support the BNP!! -and will do anything to help their fascist friends. Last week I heard they forced the Northern carnival out of Manchester through outright intimidation. After that now famous C4 documentary, this clearly illustrates thet nothing has changes. Last year the BNP were allowed to hold their "Red, White and Blue" festival in GMR, so why can't UAF hold gigs?? I don't suppose I need to convince anyone here that the police are obviously our enemy

Fuckin Cops, now we can't even take our children to this festival which was supposed to be in the park until the cops stopped it from taking place, but that'll never stop my children from being anti racist you fuckin police pricks.

Why don't all the anarchists get together and do a similar festival against the racist bastards as they never get put off (No Offence Intended to Unite) I hope your festival goes very well but unfortunately due to the time when this takes place at Hammersmith Apollo my kids won't be able to attend due to their ages 3 and 4.

I really wanted to take my children to this in the park to enjoy the music and learn about other peoples cultures and now that can't be done due to the facist police.

Obviously if the state tries to ban an event like this, you should stand firm and go ahead with it, licence or no licence. But then the left are incapable of standing up to the state (might ruin electorial chances for one thing) so have caved in.

Unite Against Fascism isn't just the SWP, it's a broad coalition of lots and lots of different people, many of whom are unlikely to be up for defying the law/state.
