GRIEVING MOTHER ARRESTED AT PRISON DEMO
MATT ARCHIBALD | 28.05.2004 18:09 | Social Struggles | London | World
A MOTHER, PAULINE CAMPBELL, WHO LOST HER ONLY 18 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WHILST SHE WAS IMPRISONED AT STYAL PRISON IN 2003, HAS VOWED TO PROTEST AGANST EVERY DEATH OF A WOMAN PRISONER IN JAIL IN THE UK. Recently a death occurred to a woman prisoner Heather Wait at Holloway Prison. The arrest, Pauline's third occurred when she tried to prevent prison vans from entering the jail. She believes that prisons are unsafe places which have constantly failed to uphold the duty of care that the Prison Service has to all prisoners.

Pauline's campaign against the death of women in custody is an important struggle to highlight the dramatic increase in deaths. The Home Office has just admitted another woman, Rebecca Smith, 40, died at HMP Buckley Hall in Rochdale after she was found hanging in her cell. Tragically another woman from Holloway Prison is in a coma and unlikely to survive.
I am publicising all of Pauline's demo on the Yahoo Group No More Prison
