Pauline Campbell Arrested outside Holloway Prison
Pauline Campbell Arrested outside Holloway Prison

A MOTHER, PAULINE CAMPBELL, WHO LOST HER ONLY 18 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WHILST SHE WAS IMPRISONED AT STYAL PRISON IN 2003, HAS VOWED TO PROTEST AGANST EVERY DEATH OF A WOMAN PRISONER IN JAIL IN THE UK. Recently a death occurred to a woman prisoner Heather Wait at Holloway Prison. The arrest, Pauline's third occurred when she tried to prevent prison vans from entering the jail. She believes that prisons are unsafe places which have constantly failed to uphold the duty of care that the Prison Service has to all prisoners.

I know the officer with the glasses on the right of the photo. He used to go to the Drome nightclub near London Bridge alot. I recongised him instantly but never knew he was in the police.

Defend Prison Activist on Trial

Pauline; the woman arrested in the photo, was charged following her arrest and will be up in court this week. She will likely be fined in which case she intends to refuse to pay as part of the political protest. Contact Pauline for details of the court appearance and lets try to get a picket outside the court to give her support.

You have my support

Firstly I would like to express my deepest sympathy to Pauline for the loss of her daughter. I hope that her campaign to stop women from going to prison is successful and that others join in with her. There are a lot of good things to be said about direct action.

Pauline in Court

03.06.2004 16:12

Pauline was in court today. Pauline pleaded Not Guilty. The case was adjourned for 4 weeks. Pauline was bailed without any conditions. It is likely to be a few months before it comes to trial.

Pauline's campaign against the death of women in custody is an important struggle to highlight the dramatic increase in deaths. The Home Office has just admitted another woman, Rebecca Smith, 40, died at HMP Buckley Hall in Rochdale after she was found hanging in her cell. Tragically another woman from Holloway Prison is in a coma and unlikely to survive.

I am publicising all of Pauline's demo on the Yahoo Group No More Prison
