As the evidence of the violent, sexual and psychological abuse of Iraqi people in US and UK detention centres mounted, this emergency demonstration was called at eight days notice. After the gross obscenity of war and occupation, of illegally privatising everything above the ground to reward US and UK corporations with the spoils of war, the mood of the thousands of people who demonstrated was clearly in favour of getting the foreign occupation forces out so the Iraqis can begin to clear up the mess that the occupation has created.
The most excellent street theatre group "Theatre of War" preceded the march and formed a backdrop to the speakers on the plinth of Nelson's Column, recreating in the flesh some of the abuses handed out to Iraqis by US occupation forces. For more, see:

When rally in Trafalgar Square was over, many people heeded the call by the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign to protest in Whitehall opposite Downing Street against British complicity in the war crime atrocities being committed by the Israeli Occupation Force in Rafah, Gaza Strip. For links to the photos I took of that protest, see one of the comments at the foot of this page.
