Platt Fields Park:Celebration Picnic

io | 24.05.2004 20:30

A strong campaign by the South Rusholme Residents Association has saved Platt Fields Park.

The plans to build a car park on platt fields park have been withdrawn thanks to the campaign of the residents association and individuals.

To celebrate the return of Platt Fields Park, there will be a
PICNIC on SUNDAY 13th JUNE 2004 at 2:00 pm in PLATT FIELDS PARK

Enjoy the park!

just read that, i just wanted to be there but it sounds so selfish. anyway, have a good time. celebrate the green space and watch out for the next move (alternative sites are being considered), whats left of piccadilly is under threat, green space on the university site going under merger plans, and crunch time for 9L keeps creeping closer.
aaargghh
i still hate them

hey heather, unfortunately i am not involved with the South Rusholme Residents Association - i attended their meeting today to see what the plan/action was for Platt Fields Park and volunteered to pass the picnic info to people who were opposing to the car park. The people at the meeting wanted to celebrate and say thanks to the people who opposed and helped with everything. They were all very friendly and welcomed us to the meeting so im sure if u could contact them they could consider having it on the 20th or even better have it as often as possible!:-)
