Grand Banks Resistance

Bailiffs turn up. Coppers turn up. Bailiffs go. Coppers hang around a bit. Coppers go. Door un-nailed. The resistance continues. Solidarity and support is necessary. Come on down. Some lazily optimized pics.

Up with continued solidarity

Hey all

Well to put it in perspective, I have lived in Huddleston road for 20 years and I have never once seen that place (Ex Grand Bank) being used for anything useful.
I remember it when it was a Barclays, a Fat Sams 'american style diner' or whatever, a ponsy coffee bar, an over 21's trendy wine bar place or some crap like that... all of which went down like lead baloons.
Tufnell park is not really busy enough (for better or worse) to support any of that shit but it is busy enough that there should indeed be something there. I think it is fuckin excellent what you guys are doing and am happy to finally see the building which has always either been used bloody stupidly, (that is to say without the owners/developers or whatever thinking their grands plans for the place through properly) or left all boarded up and derelict finally being used in some sort of constructive, mutually beneficial to all around, manner.
I really do hope you guys can sit it out and although at the risk of sounding somewhat apathetic in saying that the law probably isn't entirely on your side, I do hope you guys get to stay there.
I myself am a 20 year old Digital Media student at the London College of Printing and would like to offer my somewhat limited capabilities with such tasks as setting up further websites and stuff like that, however, I am currently living away from home alot of the time and do work either at my student bar or for childline most evenings. That said, if you do decide that you need another ponsy media type to help out, I will promise to do what I can.

Yours... Justin

Please Clean Up the Graffiti

Although I understand that the people running the cafe have their hearts in the right place I would like to point complain about the general state of the place now. Over the last few weeks there has been allot of pretty poor graffiti painted on the side. The interior is also suffering and looking mighty shabby.

If you want the support of the locals then
I would suggest that making it presentable would be a good idea. I like the idea of it becoming a arts centre but to do this long term you need to attract the local residents to it. I personally would prefer a bar to be there if it meant that the place was better maintained.

Cheers

Nick
