Creative Action Network Open Workshop

CAN | 11.05.2004 12:45 | Culture | Sheffield

Following from the success of the Lantern Carnival, CAN is having an open day.
Expect games, hands-on making session, and details of how to get involved in forthcoming creative actions. Also-,propose your own ideas for actions to likeminded people.

11am – 5pm
Sunday, May 16th
Highfield Trinity Church Hall,
Holland Place, off London Road.

A day of workshops, discussions, games, resources & ideas sharing.

We hope that the day will be child and Mum/Dad friendly, and that the workshops will cater for all, from creative community actions, to creative forms of direct action.
(you have an option of two workshops (one in Morning and one in Afternoon).
We hope too that the majority of the workshop sessions will lead directly to actual creative actions (less talking, more action!).

The day will comprise of:

- An introduction to CAN

- An exhibition of the Sharrow Lantern Carnival (Postcards and Photos for sale!)

- An introduction to CIRCA (the Clandestine Rebel Insurgent Clown Army). Sign up for further training and actions.

- A workshop led by Ruth Ben-Tovim, a chance to get involved in “Sharrow Festival”.

- “Seeds for Change” workshop on consensus decision making.

- A practical workshop to develop CAN’s contribution to the “Peace in the Park” festival,

- A Subvertising workshop

- A chance to propose your own ideas for creative activism to a group of like minded people.

-A hands on “making” workshop running throughout the day. (As yet undecided: possibly making costumes/props for Sharrow Festival on Saturday the 26th of June, or the ‘Ugly Bug Ball’ at Menwith Hill Spy Base on Independence from America day, Sunday July the 4th.)

- Creche

- Games throughout the day.

Everyone is welcome - bring food and ideas to share

Love from CAN
