SIEG HEIL FOR PALESTINE

NAZIS 4 PALESTINE

Unhelpful

03.05.2004 23:42

I think that the comment above is fairly unhelpful and very, very far from comprehensive. As in the last few years, the May Day mobilisation by the far right in Germany is becoming almost as important a date as it is for the left. There was a demonstrations, called for and organised by the NPD (German Nationalist Party) and the Frei Kammeradenschaft, showing a fairly unpleasent and recently unprecedented untiy within the far-right. There were probably around 2,500 nazis present.

The problem with the above article is that it is incredibly simpistic. The politics of the far right and the radical left in Germany are extremely complicated, and the size of both (compared to in the UK, for example) makes the diversity of ideas, analyses and approaches difficult to comprehend. Within the far right, for example, there is a tradition of supporting national liberation struggles (with the emphaisis, obviously, firmly upon the `national`). The neo-nazis were amongst the first to take to the streets in opposition to the US/UK, and later German - and other, invasion of Afghanistan in October 2001, they often carry IRA paraphinalia, describe themselves as anti-imperialist, and certainly oppose the very existence of a Jewish State - and express this in solidarity with the PLO and other Palestinian and Pro-Palestinian organisations. There are, of course, however, tendencies within the far-right in Germany which run countra to this. Horst Maller, an ex-member of the left wing 1970s-90s urban guerrilla group in Germany, who became a leading ìntellectual` within the NPD (as far as such a thing isn`t a complete contradiction), propogated the rascist and anti-semitic anti-imperialist position vociferously. He recently left the organisation, after considering that this analysis wasn`t picked up upon within the Party heavily enough.

The radical-left is also CONSDERABLY more substantial than in the UK. There are dozens and dozens of newspapers, magazines and discussion forums produced and held regularly. The issue of anti-semitism in society, and within the left and radical-left, is a very big issue - for reasons which are (mostly) obvious. The extent to which this issue is addressed is obviosuly to be applauded, when contrasted to other countries and movements. Whilst there are obviously groups who maintain as simplistic anti-imperialist anaysis in Germany as elsewhere (for example, offering so-called critical support to nationalist struggles such as that of the PLO, or even to openly anti-semitic organisations such as Hamas, Islamic Jihad or Hussain`s Baàthist Party), there are others who equate anti-Zionism with anti-Semitism, and those for whom anti-Semitism can only be expressed through solidarity with Israel. And, of course, most within the radical-left fall somewhere between these two poles. Infact the AAB (Antifascistische Aktion Berlin) split into two factions around a year ago PARTLY (although by no means entirely) over this issue, with each group (partly incorrectly) being identified as belonging to one of these poles.

What I`ve attempted to explain is also a crass over-simplification of a debate and conflict which I still don`t entirely claim to be able to understand. But the `fascists support Palestine, the anti-fascists Israel`explanation is misleading and unhelpful.

Dont let fascist lies divide us! Fight Racism & antisemitism! Free Palestine!

04.05.2004 04:27

Get this dumbass Nazi propaganda shite off our newswire!

These Nazis want to kill both Jews and Palestinians!
They hate Muslims, and want to establish white supremacist power over all the non-European peoples, Arabs as well as Africans and Asians!
They are no friends of the Palestinians!

They only carry this Palestinian flag and post the photo on websites like Indymedia to try to divide and confuse the anti-fascist, anti-imperialist forces.
This is not a post from a genuine 'antifa', and should be removed from this newswire as a fraud.

Antifa says:
Down with Racism, Fascism and Anti-Semitism!
Down with the Zionist State of Israel and Western Imperialism!
For Global Equality, Unity, Peace and Harmony!
Peoples of the Earth Unite!
Save your Planet from Capitalism!
Long Live Mayday!
Death to All Nazis!

Re-Sista!

This is bollox..look at Indymedia Germany

Look at these photos of the nazi demo posted by genuine antifacsists (AntifaGuerilla) on Indymedia Germany: "Fotos der Nazidemo in Berlin am 1.Mai"
 http://germany.indymedia.org/2004/05/82391.shtml
Photo's of most of the Fascist scums march are here. Not a palestinian flag to be seen!
The Nazis are NOT pro-palestine! And the anti-fascsists are NOT pro Israel!
This story is mischievous propaganda! Get it off Indymedia!

This is not something new

04.05.2004 09:21

Actually, this is not something new. That is, racist right groups who are pro Palestinian. In the states, the Ku Klux Klan has staged anti Isael marches, and Right Wing groups have portrayed Rachel Corrie as a blonf haired, blue eyed, aryan martyr, killed by Jews. This is a message to everyone to be careful. Nothing is simply black or white.

Less simplistic rants please!

04.05.2004 11:16

I can only agree with the post above titled "unhelpful", as it corresponds to my experience of the German radical left/ antifa scene, and what I've heard about the fascist groups there from people who ought to know. Reducing this issue to pro-palestine=nazi or alternatively denying that any fascists might claim to support palestinians is just stupid. Life, politics and people are all complicated- deal with it.

Not just Germany

04.05.2004 11:17

It's not just Germany's problem. The BNP here have had a Pro-Palestinian agenda for a long time.

ADF = dishonest scum!

04.05.2004 12:08

Nazis wishing muslims "A good journey back home"
Nazis wishing muslims "A good journey back home"

If ADF was serious and honest they would mention that the NPD is currently running a vicious campaign against muslim immigrants showing a poster with a mosque and muslim immigrants packing there things and wearing headscarves running the caption: "a good journey home!" This racist campaigns echoes the mainstream and cross-party "muslim scare" campaign, and also the "islamofascist" campaign of some antifascist groups. There´s your united front!
