In the run up to the elections, there will be a Love Music Hate Racism festival of fantastic gigs/shows/events in Leeds in order to counter the politics of despair and hatred of the fascists.
See www.lovemusicleeds.co.uk and www.lmhr.org.uk for more details.
See also www.leedsunity.org.uk for details of more local activity against the BNP.
Cheers.

They might be shite, but I'm voting labour just to f**k the trots right out of it.

The main thing is to vote.

However, simply telling people to vote Labour to stop the BNP, and accusing Respect of 'splitting the vote' is not necessarily going to work as a strategy. While voting Labour is preferable to voting BNP, for many people Bliar's warmongering means that they will simply not vote for Labour this time round. Respect offers people an alternative to the identical mainstream parties of big business and war (or in the case of the Lib Dems, big business and war once it has started). In the case of the European elections, actually what will stop the BNP is a strong showing by a fourth party (eg Respect or the Greens) as it is Proportional Representation.
As Blair told a group of corporate executives recently, 'Labour means business'. Indeed it does. We need a socialist alternative to privatisation, racism and war, and Respect is about giving people that alternative they deserve. www.respectcoalition.org
