Recycling Matters Home composting Project

About 30% of rubbish in the average household bin is 'organic' kitchen and garden waste - most of which could be composted. Composting is the best and most natural way of reducing the amount of waste that would otherwise be disposed of via the incinerator or end up in the landfill site, where it would contribute to the release of methane and other potential pollutants.

Composting is Easy and we, at Recycling matters, are here to help you start and/or succcessfully continue to home compost your kitchen and garden waste - not only will you be 'doing your bit' for the enviroment by reducing your rubbish that'd be disposed of, but you'll also be able to produce your own usefull compost - a rich soil improver for yuo garden of houseplants, completely free of charge!
Composting needn't take up much room or be unsightly. It can be done in a home made heap of bin or in a manufactured vessel and we can give you information \nx advice about what system would suit your needs and how to make good compost.

Recylcling Matters is a local SCRAP project based in Burngreave which is working to promote recycling and re-use and encourage reduction of the amount of waste we all produce. Recylcing Matters has an information burea at 127 Spittle Hill.
