Barrow in Furness - first Countryside Comes to Town of 2004

On Saturday 17th April the Countryside Alliance put on an exhibition of countryside activities in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. The fine, sunny weather brought hundreds of people out into the town centre, and a large number welcomed the opportunity to see the display, which included foxhounds from the North Lonsdale, beagles from the Black Combe along with terriers, ferrets and lurchers. Representatives from the local wildfowling and deer management communities also helped man the stand, which also included practical demonstrations of fly tying and stick making.

Congratulations to the organisers Tom Fell and Alison Bolt - to see their pictures and a detailed report click here

The Countryside Comes to Town initiative is featured in the 2004 Hunting Action Pack. Plans are already in place for similar events in Shrewsbury and Hereford.
