Corporate Watch is looking for an 'information/press officer' to join our collective
Corporate Watch is a small, independent cutting-edge research group run as a worker's co-operative and based in Oxford, England. We conduct research and analysis to expose the mechanisms by which corporations operate and the negative effects they have on society and the environment.
We want to recruit an Information/Press officer who would be responsible for the following tasks:
* To respond to enquiries from the press and campaigning groups;
* To actively promote our work in the mainstream and alternative press;
* To develop an outreach strategy that will include writing, giving talks and workshops.
We are looking for someone who:
* Has research and writing skills;
* Has excellent interpersonal skills;
* Has experience of managing and organising information;
* Has a healthy mistrust of the corporate media;
* Has experience of (and enjoys!) public speaking;
* Has initiative and ideas for research projects;
* Has at least one year's experience of grassroots campaigning and taking direct action.
* Is connected to activist networks in the UK and/or abroad.
* Is willing to live and work in Oxford (We can help to find you a place).
* Actively aspires to work co-operatively.
We pay a basic wage (currently £9,300 p.a) for a 30- hour week. Corporate Watch operates a non- hierarchical structure and workers are expected to take a share in running the co-operative ? including fund-raising, admin, decision making and cooking communal lunch.
Corporate Watch is run by activists for activists. If you are looking for a rung on the NGO/media career ladder then Corporate Watch is definitely not for you!
