Road Construction Disrupted at Blackwood

Blackwood Association of Digger Divers | 16.04.2004 22:44

Protesters continued to disrupt construction work at Blackwood this week by climbing onto diggers, obstructing the path of construction vehicles and occupying land on which work was taking place. These tactics proved so successful, despite the small number of protesters, that extra security staff were drafted in by construction company Costain, and extra fencing has been commissioned in an attempt to keep protesters out (yeah right!).

The protesters were staying at the last protest camp on the site, Camp Kerry, although this camp has now been dismantled at the request of the landowners. Discussions are in progress with local people to establish a camp on a new site. Despite the loss of the camp, this campaign is far from over. There are endless opportunities for direct action and fun to be had by groups of people paying short visits for a day or two and causing mayhem. So get off your arses and make Costain pay for their crimes!

Not only Costain but Plaid Cymru too

Don't forget that it was the Plaid Cymru controlled council that pushed this through, and their project. Anyone who thinks this party is left wing needs to think again!
