Aldermaston march from Oxford

Niki | 10.04.2004 10:11 | Anti-militarism | Repression | Oxford

Around 40 marchers left Oxford just now.

At around 10 we left Oxford via Carfax to march to Aldermaston - 40 miles in horrible weather, just about to rain. Banners wave and singers sing and it was uplifting. Marchers from the Midlands joined marchers from Oxford. I was with them till Redbridge and quite a few drivers along the Ab Road hooted or waved support. The police who joined us seem very friendly. Well done everyone who turned out to march (specially those who were at Phil and Toby's *totally brilliant* party last night and must have found it hard to get up so early today!). Does anyone have photos?

Also note this is a feeder march, ie separate from the London one; they will meet up in Reading. Around 40 people walked from Oxford, reports from london say 200-400 are on their way from there.

It's seems pretty clear to me there's a number of trolls on this site you don't even read what they are looking at, but just scan it for lazy, inaccurate, yet ever-so-bitchy trolling. Try reading Steve, you trolling fool.

Youth March Oxford to Aldermaston

12.04.2004 22:48

Just back from Aldermaston (Monday evening). The Youth March had over 50 people for the 1st day (to Wallingford) and around 40 for the Sunday and today. We met up with the march from London in Reading last night and all marched together, joined by many many people on the way to Aldermaston. More tomorrow, with photos etc.

Watching the marchers arrive

What a fantastic sight to see the marchers arrive, snaking down the Reading road to AWE Alermaston. Sheffield Samba drummed them in and there were around 20 Weapons Inspectors to meet them (in case is isn't obvious where the wmd are!). Thetreofwar did a show at the Main Gate at lunchtime and then again in the Camps in the evening. Well done all of you :) especially those who travelled long distances to Oxford or London - from Macclesfield, Brimingham, North Wales, etc.
