No they haven't

As the article at bbc and the other one on indymedia says; they have halted the process of trying to commercialise Chardon LL - the only remining GM seed being pushed.

This means that until 2008 there won't be any more GM pushing within the UK.

However, Bayer are still very much staying in the country.

Don't stop complaining about GM though. Animals are fed on GM maize and then the milk and meat sold as non-GM. Organise protests outside your local Sainsbury's or better still go vegan and protest too.

The company's not pulling out, but they are pulling the last GM crop.

Funny how the govt, which was so accommodating to these whining bastards, is being blamed for "constraints".

Best news I've heard for ages! Big thanks to all who helped make this happen.

Get Bayer to drop their other GM crops too!

This is great news! But don't get carried away - they still have two GM crops awaiting approval - a spring oil seed rape and a winter oil seed rape. And no doubt they are hoping that once the regulatory framework is in place, they can then push ahead with these and any other GM crops they are developing. Their press release certainly does not suggest that they are repenting!

So next thing to do is to get Bayer to drop these two last GM applications too!

And it's still up to us to make sure that the government finally accepts that GM crops = contamination, and that that means that no GM should be grown at all, ever!

SO celebrate, but don't drop your guard and KEEP PUSHING!

the use of the remaining 2 was banned by the UK until 2008

When the UK allowed Maize to be grown they banned the use of Oil seed rape etc.. as they were too damaging to the environment. This is until 2008 anyway.
