Moment for Peace at Lantern Festival

Around 300 people observed a moment of silence for peace at City Lantern Festival

A spectacular procession snaked its way through the Sharrow and London Road areas of Sheffield tonight. A river of fantastic lanterns brought local people to the doorsteps and drew them on towards the General Cemetery where a pathway of wire brought them to a land of tree sculptures and fire juggling. As red smoke filled the air there was a time of silence for peace in the future.

Delightul for all senses

Delightful for all senses, the Carnival's minutes for peace reminded of a slogan chanted in my country "Ni guerra entre los pueblos, Ni paz entre las clases".
And there is another deep link between Saturday's SSF launch and Sunday's Carnival, through great Gil Scott Heron's lyrics.
