Freedom To Palestine

Around 70 people gathered today outside the Leeds City Art Gallery where they held a peacefull protest against Israel and its killing of innocent Palestinian people.

There were some speakers that talked about the cold-blooded killing of Ahmad Yasin and how that would create more problems than bring peace in the Middle East conflict. The people were holding baners and were shouting slogans about Palestine. In addition to that there were members of the "Stop The War" coalition and the "Socialist Worker" that gave leaflets to the people. The protest lasted for approximately one and a half hours.

A peacefull protest of around 200 people was held in Bradford the same day.

The photos below are from Leeds.

Not Against Isreal

This report seems extremley badly written. Surely the protest was not 'against Isreal' but against the Isreali government.

This is a subtle and important difference. I don't beleive that Leeds stop the War, or any of the protesters present are against Isreal or -by implication- Isrealis, but against the actions of Isreali government. The assisination was a terrible and disgraceful act of war but it in no way dimishes the right of Irealis or Palestinians to live in their own state.

Hopefully those present at the demonstration will be equally critical of any revenge action by Hamas against innocent Isrealis Jews.

Sorry but I am not a native English, therefore my writing is not that good and may create misunderstandings. What I meant was that the people in the protest were against the killings that the state of Israel performs. I know thats it its the government and not the people that do the killings but lets not forget and its the people of Israel that elected the murderer Ariel Sharon as their prime minister. As to the last thing you mention I think that you are not right because Hamas is fighting for the freedom of the palestinian people (with suicide bombers - that is the only thing they have left) while Israel uses missiles to kill innocent people on a foreign land...

Israeli State, not Jews to blame

You seem to be saying that Hamas are justified in killing innocent Israeli jews using suicide bombers because Sharon was elected!

Do Hamas check how each passenger on a bus voted before they set off a suicide bomb -I don't think so. Do Hamas check how people voted before a suicide bomber strolls into an crowded restaurant and murders to customers -I don't think so.

It is the equivilient to you or I getting murdered by a terrorist because of Tony Blair's invasion of Iraq.

You should re-think your comments. Hamas are a bunch of indescrimate Jew-hating murderers. Israels continued actions in the occupied territories are a disgrace but suicide bombers are not the answer.

Let's also not forget the fact that Israelis are, with respect to history, recent immigrants to a country that until half a century ago belonged to the Palestinians. Nothing is stopping them from emmigrating from occupied Palestine, the same way they immigrated there in the first place. By living there they are accepting that they are in a country that belonged to someone else, and may get penalized for it (The exact same way you would get penalized for buying stolen murchandise off the streets). Hamas is not Jewish-hating, they are Palestine-loving and Zionist-despising. The whole idea of partitioning the Palestinian country into two states (Care of Britain.. stupid bastards)was one of the biggest mistakes of all time and the horrendous consequences may never end.

So what's the solution? :O

Down with Israel >:@<

No wait, that spells humanitarian crisis.. how can you just eliminate a country?
Same way Israel managed to eliminate half of Palestine after WWII and then occupy the rest in 1967.

See what I'm saying?
