Excellent new anti-G8 2005 website

hkjhk | 25.03.2004 23:50 | Globalisation | Social Struggles | World

The G8 Summit is taking place in the UK in the summer of 2005. Enrager.net have just put up a webpage with really good info about the Dissent! mobilisation against the Summit, and capitalism in general.

Dissent! is an anti-capitalist network of resistance against the G8, open to all those willing to work within the PGA Hallmarks (see website below for info). The Dissent! website is under construction at the moment, www.dissent.org.uk a really good summary of what's going on and how to get involved is available online at the enrager.net site.

These are the Peoples' Global Action (PGA) Hallmarks. For more info about the PGA check out www.agp.org

1. A very clear rejection of capitalism, imperialism and feudalism; all trade agreements, institutions and governments that promote destructive globalisation.

2. We reject all forms and systems of domination and discrimination including, but not limited to, patriarchy, racism and religious fundamentalism of all creeds.
We embrace the full dignity of all human beings.

3. A confrontational attitude, since we do not think that lobbying can have a major impact in such biased and undemocratic organisations, in which transnational capital is the only real policy-maker;

4. A call to direct action and civil disobedience, support for social movements' struggles, advocating forms of resistance which maximize respect for life and oppressed peoples' rights, as well as the construction of local alternatives to global capitalism.

5. An organisational philosophy based on decentralisation and autonomy.
