my presumption......... nine ladies quarry in derbyshire, where the moles be tunneling deeply. it looks like it's in derby. marshalls are a big quarring company.
hope this is of some help, though it's all speculative on my part!

Marshalls occupation, Elland, W. Yorks

26.03.2004 00:33

At 9am today (Thursday) the offices of Marshalls PLC in Elland, West Yorkshire were occupied by around 20 activists in solidarity with the Nine Ladies Anti Quarry campaign.

Marshalls PLC owns Stancliffe Stone, who have submitted an application to re-open two dormant quarries on the hillside below Stanton Moor, Derbyshire, right next to the Nine Ladies stone circle.

We had no problems entering the building – the receptionist barely noticed us until it was too late. People managed to roam throughout the 3 story building for around 45 minutes, causing lots of disruption, before congregating in the reception area – on the promise that one of the directors of the group speak with about the company’s proposals.

After a failed attempt to get us to leave the building BEFORE talking to us (yeah, right), we managed put questions to the corporate-clone marketing director of Marshalls Mono Ltd. He seemed to be on some kind automatic loop which led him to repeat the words ‘that question should be directed to the Managing Director of Stancliffe Stone’ at frequent intervals. Predictably he refused our request for an assurance (from Marshalls directors, or Stancliffe Stone) that the Nine Ladies camp would not be evicted before the planning process was complete.

We left the building voluntarily after three hours. All in all a successful occupation, - no trouble, plenty of disruption caused, friendly police and lots of decent free coffee in reception.

Marshalls PLC & Stancliffe Stone – we will be back!

It wasn't "20 activists" there was three of us.

Definately around 20

Huh? Have I entered a parallel universe or something?

There WERE around 20 people, not 3 - everyone else was inside the building at the time the photos were taken. I should know as I was there.

AMENDING THE CONFUSION!

OK,
The good news is kids, NOBODY IS MAKING UP NUMBERS. there are two actions we are talking about, which is great. the one reported here is the one on the 25th. the second one (i assume with 3 people) was on the 26th.
so well done everybody!

what??

why do you think that the pictures are photoshopped? (Which we shouldn't use anyway - use GIMP, it's free). The pictures are definately real.

They don't even look slightly faked.
